By Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna
The International Human Rights Commission Relief Fund Trust (IHRC-RFT), Nigeria Chapter, has issued a press release expressing deep concern over the worsening insecurity in Zamfara State and across the country. The organization is calling for urgent collective action to restore peace and security.
According to the press release, signed by Ambassador Abdullahi Bakoji Adamu
Country Director, IHRC-RFT Nigeria Chapter said “the IHRC-RFT is deeply disturbed by the lamentation of the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, regarding the devastating wave of insecurity ravaging the state and the entire nation.
The organization notes that despite the availability of intelligence on the movements of bandits, effective action is often hindered by the need for clearance from higher authorities.
The statement maintained that “this situation, the IHRC-RFT has called on various stakeholders to play their role in addressing the security challenge. Specifically, the organization has urged:
The human rights group called on Leaders of Faith to rise with sincerity and remind leaders and followers alike of the reality of death and accountability before Almighty God. They should continue to preach repentance, righteousness, and the sanctity of human life.
The statement also appeals to Traditional Rulers to stand firm as custodians of culture and conscience, guiding their communities with wisdom, justice, and fairness. They should resist any form of collaboration with those who perpetrate evil.
The human rights advocacy group urges Political Leaders to remember that power is a trust and a test from God. They must discharge their duties with responsibility, sincerity, and a fear of divine judgment.
“Those Misled into Banditry and Terrorism to pause, reflect, and recognize the greatness of Allah. They should remember that no wealth, no gun, and no position can save them from the inevitable reality of death in the hereafter.
“The General Public to remain steadfast in prayers, supplications, and good deeds. Security is a collective responsibility, and together with sincerity and faith, peace can return to our land.
The IHRC-RFT has also appealed to the Federal Government to take decisive, people-centered measures to restore confidence and protect the lives and properties of every Nigerian. The organization warns that injustice, negligence, and delay only fuel despair and strengthen the hands of criminals.
The IHRC-RFT Nigeria Chapter stands in solidarity with all victims of violence and calls for a national awakening — a return to God, to conscience, and to humanity. May Almighty God heal our nation and guide our leaders.
