Frontline advocacy group, the Sons and Daughters of Riverine communities in Edo State has commended the Department of State Security Services, DSS, Delta State command for foiling a potential ethnic war in Warri.
The group in a statement signed by Honorable Godstime Ogidigba, National coordinator,
Honorable Olupiriye Oyeh,
Vice National coordinator and Comrade Ezekiel Daniel, spokesperson said the investigation and discreet operation that successfully nabbed a serving British Military officer of Itsekiri background with 57 AK 49 riffles was commendable.
The statement titled, “WE COMMEND PROACTIVENESS OF DELTA STATE COMMAND OF DSS IN THWARTING WHAT COULD HAVE LEAD TO MAJOR ETHNIC CRISIS” said “the DSS have done a great job, we urge them to go further to thoroughly unravel all the master minds link to this great threat to peace of the state, especially the involvement of some highly placed individuals and a king as widely reported in the well coordinated plan to set Warri city and riverine communities on fire”.
The group said, “As an advocacy body and voice for peace, security and development in the riverine part of the ENTIRE Niger Delta region, we greatly commend the service in nipping in the bud a potential threat, that would have shattered the current peace Warri Izons enjoy.
“The commendation, praises and joyful sounds pouring in wildly like hammattern fire for Delta state command of DSS from generality of Izons, especially those of Egbema, Gbaramatu, Isaba and Ogbe-Ijoh kingdoms in the last 3 days greatly show that citizens values the sacrifice of security agencies when they professionally do their job.
“The investigation and discreet operation that successfully nabbed a serving British Military officer of Itsekiri background with 57 AK riffles is what we called STING OPERATION at its best.
“Since Supreme Court gave a landmark judgement courtesy of formidable facts presented by Izon lawyers led by Erudite Barrister Eric Omare, which brought about Warri delineation.
“Our Itsekiri neighbor has been threatening war , while on our part as an agent of peace, we keep pouring water on any form of violent rhetoric because we don’t want Warri of old where killing and wanton destruction of property was the order of the day.
“The service having done a great job, we urge them to go further to thoroughly unravel all the master minds link to this great threat to peace of the state ,especially the involvement of some highly placed individuals and a king as widely reported in the well coordinated plan to set Warri city and riverine communities on fire”.
