Ijaw Leader Defends NDDC MD Against Calls For Removal, Appeal For Support
By Monday Peters, Abuja
A prominent Ijaw leader, Chief Ebis Moni, has thrown weight behind Dr. Sam Ogbuku, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), urging Ijaw leaders, stakeholders, and youth to back him and encourage him to do more for the region.
Chief Moni condemned the “pull him down syndrome” exhibited by some aggrieved Ijaw individuals, calling it counterproductive. He advised aggrieved parties to address their concerns with Dr. Ogbuku privately rather than publicly criticizing him.
The NDDC MD has been facing criticism and calls for his removal, but Chief Moni believes he had done well in transforming the Niger Delta region. “Under Dr. Ogbuku’s leadership, the NDDC has initiated several transformative projects, including the Ogbia-Nembe Road, and has improved healthcare services, education, and infrastructure in the region”, he added.
The Ijaw leader emphasized that the region needs leaders who can work together to drive progress, rather than individuals with selfish ambitions.
Why commending Ogbuku, Moni reiterated that Ogbuku has Niger Delta people at heart and strongly working to provide development and empowerments that would benefit all in the region.
