‘I’m A Proud 35-Year-Old Virgin, Living Life On My Own Terms’ — Woman Brags
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
Lauren Harkins, a 35-year-old woman from Maine, has revealed that she has never had sex and often faces ridicule for her virginity, but she remains unapologetic about her choices. Sharing her story on social media, Harkins also admitted that she has never been on a date, aiming to challenge common myths around virginity.
“I’ve never felt ashamed about being a virgin or having limited sexual experience, and I’ve always been open about it, even as a teenager,” Harkins told What’s The Jam. She explained that intimacy, for her, has always been meaningful rather than something to rush into to “keep up” with others.
On Instagram and TikTok, she frequently encounters comments saying she “doesn’t act like a virgin,” which she attributes to defying the typical stereotypes of being shy or socially awkward. “Criticism comes with any public platform claims that I’m lying, attention-seeking, narcissistic, or ‘expired’ but at this point, it doesn’t bother me,” she added.
Contrary to assumptions, Harkins is not religiously saving herself for marriage. “I value a committed, aligned, long-term partnership not a tradition or contract for the sake of it,” she clarified. She positions herself between the extremes of hyper-traditionalism and casual hookup culture.
Only recently has Harkins begun considering romance seriously, noting that she “wasn’t ready” in her teens or twenties. “Approaching this now is intentional, and there’s nothing embarrassing about it,” she emphasized.
