Israel Refuses International Demand for Treaty in Gaza

By Ohworisi Elohor
The foreign minister of Israel refused what he sees as a “distorted campaign” of international demand for a treaty in the Gaza war and acknowledgement of a Palestinian state, on Tuesday.
Gideon Saar addressed reporters saying, if Israel was to establish a cease fire, while Hamas is still in power in Gaza and still refusing to free hostages, it would be a “tragedy for both Israelis and Palestinians”.
In his words he said, “It ain’t gonna happen, no matter how much pressure is put on Israel,”
Since the bloody October 7th that happened in the 2023 cross-border assault by the Palestinian group, Hamas in Gaza has been receiving a military campaign from Israel for almost 22 months.
Global pressure is mounting for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to enable aid agencies to deliver food and humanitarian assistance on a large scale, addressing the rapidly deteriorating famine situation.
In a media update in Jerusalem, Saar emphasized Hamas was entirely responsible for the conflict and that pressure on Israel would only encourage the group to take a strong stance.
In his statement he mentioned “When they demand this war, what does it really mean? Ending the war while Hamas remains in power in Gaza?”
Saar also spoke about the attempt by some foreign capitals, including Paris, to renew efforts towards a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The French foreign minister mentioned in his statement yesterday, “that Europe must pressure Israel to accept a two-state solution,” “Establishing a Palestinian state today is establishing a Hamas state, a jihadist state. It ain’t gonna happen.”
