JUST IN: Abia lawmakers impeach speaker over alleged misconduct

Hon. Chinedum Orji, the Speaker of the Abia state House of Assembly has been impeached.

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) Hon. Chukwudi Apugo, representing the Umuahia East State constituency was said to have moved the motion of Hon. Orji impeachment and seconded by Okey Igwe, a Honourable representing Umunneochi constituency, who is also a member of Peoples Democratic party.

It was reported that the impeachment of Hon. Orji was affirmed by 18 out of 27 members of the Assembly.

He was impeached on allegations of gross misconduct.

It was gathered that the impeached speaker, Hon. Chinedum Orji is the son of former Abia governor, Theodore Orji.

Recall, the impeached speaker Chinedum Orji who is a member of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lost his Re-Election bid to represent Ikwuano /Umuahia – North / Umuahia – South Federal Constituency in the House of Assembly.

Orji was knocked down by a member of Labour candidate, Obi Aguocha.
