Kaduna Govt Revives Monthly Environmental Sanitization Exercise

To keep the State Environmental Friendly the Acting General Manager Kaduna State Environmental Protection Agency (KEPA), Mr Yahaya Victor has applauded Governor Uba Sani for reintroducing end of the Month environmental sanitization exercise across the state.
He said this while observing the monthly sanitization exercise, explained that the exercise would go a long way in ensuring a clean, safe and ideal environment needed for human existence and sustainability of the ecosystem in general.
Mr, Victor made the remarks on Saturday while supervising a mock environmental sanitization exercise by operatives of the agency across Kaduna metropolis, in preparation for a full monthly routine exercise, scheduled to commence in November 2025 which he said would be characterized by a complete shutdown of movement and slamming of fines on potential defaulters.

He stressed the exigency for citizens to complement efforts of the State Government in maintaining cleanliness of the city, including inner and outer areas of homes so that the whole atmosphere would be in a good state for healthy living.
“We have gone round key areas across the city to sensitize residents on the need to be in preparation for monthly sanitization exercise of the environment.
“We took off from our Corporate Headquarters along Kachia Road with the sensitization message to Gonin-Gora which is a gateway to the city from the South, stopping over at important points along the way such as Command and NNPC Junction enlightening motorists and passersby on the return of the cleaning exercise and its benefits.

“The ritual cleaning exercise is planned to hold on last Saturday of every month where citizens will be expected to remain in their homes from seven to ten in the morning to clean and tidy up their environment.
“The exercise is brought back by the Governor of the state in a directive to the State Commissioner for Environment which shall be implemented in collaboration with all stakeholders, particularly members of the press whose role in enlightening, informing and mobilizing citizens cannot be overemphasized,” he stressed.
The Head of the environment protection agency added that the exercise would be carried out across all 23 Local Government Areas in the state with monitoring to ensure full compliance by citizens.
While decrying the activities of some residents of indiscriminate waste disposal on waterways and unwanted areas, Victor enjoined citizens to comply with the exercise from next Month when it would have come into full effect.
