Kano Police Arrest Five Suspected Kidnappers, Cattle Rustlers

The Kano State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with kidnapping and cattle rustling in the state. The arrests were made in separate operations in Kiru and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad acted on intelligence reports and cordoned off Rahma Road in Kiru LGA, arresting four suspects. One of the suspects, Shafiu Ibrahim, 25, of Auchanawa Village, Ikara LGA, Kaduna State, confessed to being a member of a kidnapping gang and involvement in cattle rustling. A TVS motorcycle was recovered from him.
In a related operation, a combined team from the Dragon Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, and Tsanyawa Police Division arrested Bishir Umar, 24, of Karaduwa LGA, Katsina State, at Mahuta Village, Tsanyawa LGA. Umar confessed to planning a kidnapping operation with accomplices, but was apprehended while on surveillance.
The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
