Kano Police Arrest Two Over Robbery, Attempted Murder Of Singer Lil Kesh

By Micheal Chukwuebuka
The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects, identified as Matthew Adewole and Mukhtar Muhammed, in connection with the robbery and attempted murder of Nigerian Afropop star, Lil Kesh.
According to police reports, Matthew confessed to attacking the artiste on 19 August 2025. He allegedly ambushed Lil Kesh and forced him, under threat, to transfer ₦2,120,000 via mobile banking into Mukhtar Muhammed’s account.
During the assault, the award-winning singer sustained serious injuries, including a deep cut to his neck, which left him hospitalised for several days. Police sources confirmed that his condition has since stabilised, though the incident sparked concern among fans and fellow musicians who condemned the violent attack.
The suspects were apprehended following a swift manhunt, with investigators tracing the suspicious bank transfer to Muhammed’s account. Both men are currently in custody.
The case has now been transferred to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation, as the crime is believed to have links beyond Kano. Authorities say additional accomplices may be identified as inquiries continue.
Lil Kesh, best known for hits such as Shoki and Efejoku, rose to prominence under Olamide’s YBNL record label and has remained a prominent voice in Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene. His management has yet to issue an official statement, though insiders say he is focusing on recovery while cooperating with the police investigation.
Police have assured the public that the suspects will face prosecution, stressing their commitment to tackling violent crimes targeting public figures.
