Kano Police Commissioner Urges Officers To Intensify Crime-Fighting, Uphold Human Rights, Reject Corruption

By Micheal Chukwuebuka
The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has called on police officers across the state to intensify their efforts in combating crime, maintain professionalism, respect human rights, and shun all forms of corruption.
Speaking at a strategic meeting with supervising officers on Monday, 29 September 2025, CP Bakori reviewed the Command’s security operations and outlined new measures to strengthen law enforcement as the year draws to a close.
He commended officers for their commitment to maintaining peace and order but stressed the need for greater vigilance and discipline, particularly in the last quarter of the year, when criminal activities tend to rise.
“We must remain steadfast in our duties, uphold the rule of law, and ensure the protection of lives and property. Officers must also steer clear of civil disputes, including land matters, and avoid any form of extortion or misconduct that could damage public trust,” the police chief said.
CP Bakori also reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and urged officers to demonstrate integrity and accountability in all their operations.
In a related development, the Kano State Police Command has partnered with the Kano State Accountability Forum on Education (K-SAFE) to train officers on school safety.
The lecture, delivered by Dr Auwal Halilu of Bayero University Kano, focused on strengthening security in schools and protecting students, teachers, and educational infrastructure from threats.
According to the Command, the training is part of efforts to enhance officers’ capacity to secure learning environments and promote safe school corridors across the state.
Authorities say the initiative underscores the police’s commitment to supporting educational development by ensuring that students can learn in a safe and secure atmosphere.
The Kano Police Command expressed appreciation to K-SAFE for its partnership and pledged continued collaboration with stakeholders to address security challenges and safeguard the well-being of residents.
