Former Kano State governor and National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed rumours suggesting that he plans to dump the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during the NNPP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday, Kwankwaso reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, insisting that he remains committed to strengthening its structures nationwide. He described the reports of his alleged defection as “baseless speculation” fueled by political opponents trying to create division within the NNPP.

Kwankwaso, who was the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, emphasized that the NNPP is growing stronger by the day and will be a major force in 2027. He called on party members and supporters to stay united, focused, and prepared to challenge the ruling party at the polls.

He also noted that ongoing efforts to reposition the party are already yielding results, with new alliances and grassroots mobilization underway. “We are here to stay, and we are here to win,” he declared.
