The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media which claims that armed bandits responsible for the recent attack on church worshippers in Eruku community have been apprehended.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, 20th November 2025, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, described the circulating video as “completely false” and urged the public to disregard it.
According to the Command, no arrests have been made in connection with the attack, contrary to the misleading claims being shared online. SP Ejire-Adeyemi emphasised that security agencies are currently carrying out intensified operations within and around Eruku Town to track down the perpetrators and secure the release of abducted victims.
The Police further cautioned residents against spreading unverified information or videos capable of generating fear or confusion in the community. The Command advised members of the public to rely solely on official updates from the Kwara State Police to avoid falling prey to misinformation.
The statement reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to restoring safety in the affected area and bringing those responsible for the attack to justice.
