Labour Party Lawmaker Emerges As Abia’s 8th Assembly Speaker

The elected House of Assembly member representing the Aba South State constituency, Emmanuel Emeruwa, has emerged as the speaker of the 8th Assembly.

To mark the beginning of the new legislative administration in the state, the executive governor of the state, Alex Otti attended the inauguration of the new speaker and the 24 other members elected.

While Emmanuel Emeruwa, who was known for his leadership skills was elected as the speaker, Austin Meregini, representing Umuahia East was chosen as the Deputy Speaker of the House.

The newly elected speaker during his first speech appreciated his other colleagues for the trust bestowed upon him and vowed to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability and diligent representation.

However, the state governor also used the opportunity to address the House, emphasizing his commitment to collaborating closely with the new leadership.
