By Micheal Chukwuebuka
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested five suspected cultists following a violent clash between rival groups in the Onireke and Isashi areas of the state.
The suspects, identified as Victor Christian (43), Samuel Success (29), Balogun Emmanuel (43), Wisdom Chukwuemeka (28), and Oche Job (39) — were apprehended during a swift, coordinated operation by tactical operatives of the Command.
According to police authorities, the prompt response of the tactical squad prevented further attacks, restored calm to the affected communities, and reinforced police presence in the area to ensure continued safety and security.
A subsequent raid of the area by a joint team comprising conventional police officers, tactical squad units, and detectives led to the arrest of the five suspects, who were allegedly involved in the attack and killing of a victim at a local hotel.
During a search of the premises and the suspects’ operational vehicle, police recovered a cache of weapons and other incriminating items. Recovered exhibits include:
One locally-made pistol
Two pump-action guns
Fifty-two live cartridges
Two expended cartridges
One Toyota Avalon (registration number KTU 610 JB)
One HP laptop and computer mouse
One car key
One cutlass
One Nigerian international passport bearing the name Ekomafe Gregory Dickson
The suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction upon conclusion of investigations.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the cult group still at large, while police patrols and tactical teams have been deployed to maintain peace in the affected communities.
