The Supreme Court of Nigeria has ruled in favor of Isaba Kingdom in their ongoing land dispute with the Aladja Community in Delta State. This significant judgment marks a decisive victory for Isaba, affirming their claims to the contested land that has been a source of tension and division between the two communities for years.

Chief Arthur Akpodubakaye, the Uwangwe (traditional leader) of Isaba Kingdom, confirmed the development on Wednesday, expressing profound gratitude for the court’s ruling. He stated, “We are thankful to the Supreme Court for recognizing our rightful ownership of the land. This judgment not only restores our dignity but also reinforces our commitment to peace and cooperation within our broader community.”

The dispute dates back several years and has involved numerous legal battles and negotiations as both parties presented their claims over the land. The Supreme Court’s ruling is expected to bring closure to a conflict that has strained relationships between the communities and has caused significant distress among residents who rely on the land for their livelihoods.

Members of the Isaba Kingdom community celebrated the verdict, viewing it as not just a legal win, but a reaffirmation of their identity and heritage. “This land is more than just property to us; it’s a part of our history and culture,” remarked a local elder. “We hope that this victory will lead to better relations and understanding between us and our neighbors in Aladja.”
