Human rights lawyer Chief Malcolm Omirhobo has condemned Primate Elijah Ayodele for claiming that the Igbo people are “cursed” and cannot produce a Nigerian president, labeling the statement as reckless and divisive. Omirhobo warned that such comments, especially from a religious leader with wide influence, threaten national unity and could fuel ethnic tension.

Omirhobo stressed that Nigeria is a constitutional democracy where leadership is determined by the electorate, not by curses or prophetic claims. He cited the 1999 Constitution, noting provisions that prohibit discrimination based on ethnicity and guarantee equality among all citizens.

The lawyer called on Ayodele to issue a public apology and urged religious leaders to avoid using their platforms to make politically or ethnically charged statements.
