MAJOR GENERAL UB ABUBAKAR ASSUMES OFFICE AS THE 40TH COMMANDER ARMOURED CORPS

In a brief but significant ceremony held at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Obienu Barracks, Bauchi. The newly appointed Commander Armoured Corps (CAC), officially assumed duty following his recent appointment by the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu. The new Commander, Major General Umar Bichi Abubakar, took over the mantle of leadership of the prestigious Corps from his predecessor today. In the absence of the outgoing Commander, the formal handover documents were presented and duly signed in accordance with established military tradition.

In his speech shortly after taking up the mantle of leadership, the new Commander Armoured Corps expressed his appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for the confidence reposed in him and pledged his total commitment to upholding the core values of professionalism, discipline and operational readiness for which the Armoured Corps is renowned. He assured staff officers a tenure of openness, teamwork and renewed focus on training and welfare to further strengthen the Corps’ combat efficiency. He also called for the continued support, cooperation and loyalty of all officers and soldiers to enable the Corps sustain its vital role as the spearhead of the Nigerian Army’s combat power.
Present at the event were senior officers, officers commanding formations and units, staff officers and soldiers of the Corps who turned out to witness the smooth transition of leadership.
