Male Visitor Arrested for Attempting to Smuggle Drugs into Agodi Custodial Centre in Ibadan

A male visitor has been arrested for attempting to smuggle suspected hard drugs into the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Agodi, Ibadan.

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Oyo State Command, disclosed that the suspect was apprehended during routine security checks on visitors and their belongings at the facility’s entrance.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olanrewaju Anjorin, the visitor, who claimed he was at the centre to see an inmate, concealed substances suspected to be Colorado and hemp inside cooked rice and pasta.

Preliminary findings reportedly exposed inconsistencies in his stated purpose for the visit, raising further suspicion of an attempt to beat security.

The suspect has since been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
