Man, Wives Butchered as Bandits Attack Community in Benue

Suspected armed herdsmen lunched an attack on Asase – Ugbede Community at NAkA town in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, killing two people, with several others injured and missing.

The attack was said to have happened at about 8 pm on Wednesday, February 18, which left several residents scampering for safety

An eyewitness and resident of the community, Francis Ter, said the attack happened not far from the local government headquarters in NAKA, where the assailants opened fire killing a man and his two wives, one of the wives butchered but was later confirmed dead at the hospital, while their bodies have been deposited at the mortuary.

According to the eye witness, the bandits fled before security operatives arrived at the scene.

Meanwhile in a phone call, the command spokesperson, DSP Edet Udeme, confirmed the incidents, adding that tactical teams and other security agencies have been deployed to fish out the perpetrators.

About three weeks ago, the Commissioner of Police Ifeanyi Emenari had visited the community to assure residents of their safety as NAkA town have one of the worst hit areas.
