‘Marrying A Single Mum Of Two Is My Life’s Biggest Mistake” — Music Promoter Laments
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
During a recent interview, K-Light revealed that he was already in a committed relationship when the woman, a single mother of two, sent him a friend request.
According to him, the new acquaintance strategically positioned herself after his then-girlfriend abruptly ended their relationship, claiming her family opposed her marrying a Yoruba man.
K-light alleged that he later discovered the breakup was orchestrated by the woman who eventually became his wife. He claimed she manipulated the situation “behind the scenes,” suggesting he only realised much later that he had been under some form of influence.
He explained that despite her being a single mother with no father figure in her children’s lives, he became deeply committed to ensuring their wellbeing. He financially supported the kids’ schooling, rented a self-contained apartment for her in Ibadan, and would lodge elsewhere whenever he visited so as not to disturb the children.
As the relationship progressed, K-light said he rented a mini-flat in Lagos to prepare for their future together. He narrated how he would give her the bulk of his earnings, saying, “If I made ₦500,000, I could give her ₦350,000 first and still spend from the remaining ₦150,000.”
He added that during the COVID-19 lockdown, he received over ₦4 million for a project involving artiste Dotman and used the profit to pay her bride price and other marital expenses. Once she moved to Lagos as his wife, they initially lived peacefully in the mini-flat before later upgrading to a two-bedroom apartment when she became pregnant with his child.
However, the producer said her interest in the marriage began to decline during this period, signaling the beginning of deeper problems in the union.
