Military Invasion: Residents of Okosu-gbene community cry out, demand for resettlement after 6years

•Say Buhari fails to resettle afflicted residents
The Indigenes of Okosu Ama(Okosugbene) Community in Burutu Local government area of Delta State have expressed disappointment over the inability of president Muhammadu Buhari led administration to resettle the afflicted residents of the community after being unlawfully ruined by Nigerian military.
This was contained in a statement signed by the community chairman,Capt ODONI ATIMIDI on Friday.
It would be recalled that the Nigerian military bombed the community on 24th November, 2016 after being alleged to be harbouring suspected militants.
Chairman of the Community, Capt ODONI ATIMIDI who spoke to newsmen on Friday said it had been over six years when the Nigerian military bombarded the community and afflicted the entire residents with pains and agony.
Also reacting, the Vice chairman of the community,
Engr Blessing Enekorogha emphasized that the people should be resettled and given adequate compensation.
His words, “On that faithful morning at about 6:am while we were still on the bed, we heard the sound of two war shoppers immediately after that it was a stray shooting & bombing all over our village, where we lost most of our beloved great grandma MAMA WOBU AWUKE, including children and others who got bullet injuries and were treated in local clinics.
“Even my 6 years old Cousin brother Wisdom Ekeremor who was living with my mum, Mrs England_ere Ekeremor also sustain bullet injuries. Some of the military men who came through the military gun boats noticed that this people are innocent and rescued some of the victims via public transport boats, including my 6years Cousin brother for treatment.
“The federal government of Nigeria led by President Buhari is fully aware of this callous invasion of OKOSU-AMA community.
“Even the Delta State government led by Senator Ifeanyi Okowa also fully aware, the Burutu Local government Chairman Godknows Angele is also aware of this lawless act done to the OKOSU-AMA (OKOSU-GBENE) people by the Nigerian military.
While expressing dissatisfaction, elder Felix Tukpu Ofiyou and Chief Gabriel Ekeremo said things are so bad with the victims of the incident, adding that up-till-date the Nigerian government did not even showed any concern or care of how the people are living & their wellbeing.
“All our houses were burnt down, they don’t even spare the mother’s chicken, including our fishing materials were all set ablaze. Even all our fishes we used to survive with our families were all stollen away by the military men”.
However, the Youth President of the community, EBIMENE MONDAY, narrated that the people of Okosugbene Community were been treated unjustly and like a forgotten people.
“Now that Buhari led- administration is about to leave office, what is the faith of the Okosu-ama people? I want to use this medium to inform the Government from Federal to state and down to the Local government levels to come to our aid and rehabilitate our community”, he explained.
