Minimum Wage Deadline: Is Your State Following the Law?

As May Day approaches, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a stern directive to state chapters: ensure the National Minimum Wage Act is fully implemented now.

While some progress has been recorded nationwide, the NLC reports “widespread violations” in several states. Of particular concern is the exclusion of primary school teachers, local government workers, and healthcare personnel—the backbone of our local communities.

The Congress has authorized state councils to take their demands to the streets if governors fail to comply with the agreed salary adjustments.
