Minister Umahi Gifts Speedboat to NSCDC Lagos to Boost Third Mainland Bridge Security
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
The Minister of Works, Engineer Dave Umahi, has presented a speedboat to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to enhance security around the Third Mainland Bridge and other federal bridges in Lagos.

The donation reflects Minister Umahi’s commitment to supporting security agencies in protecting critical infrastructure. The speedboat will aid the NSCDC’s Marine and Infrastructure Protection Unit in monitoring waterways and preventing activities that threaten national assets.
The Lagos State Commandant, Mr Keshinro Adedotun, welcomed the donation, saying it would boost morale among personnel. He thanked Minister Umahi and former Federal Controller of Works, Engineer O.I. Kesha, for their support.
The Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, had directed the Lagos Command to implement resolutions from an Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) meeting, focusing on collaboration with agencies like NIWA and the Federal Ministry of Works.
The newly launched unit, led by ACC Oloyede Emmanuel Ige, aims to curb illegal activities, including dredging and encroachment, around Lagos bridges. The NSCDC warned that offenders would face prosecution.
Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun, urged licensed dredgers to comply with regulations, warning that illegal activities would be met with strict enforcement.
