By Micheal Chukwuebuka
A woman in Kano, Hafsatu Yusuf, has given birth to quintuplets at Murtala Specialist Hospital.
Her husband, Malam Salisu Nafiu, who confirmed the development, said the five babies—comprising three boys and two girls—were delivered at about 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Nafiu, a tricycle rider, expressed gratitude to God for the safe delivery, noting that both the mother and the newborns are in good health. He further disclosed that this marks his wife’s ninth childbirth.
He added that medical staff at the hospital are providing specialised care and attention to ensure the wellbeing of the mother and her babies.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Government has announced that it will assume full responsibility for the medical care of the mother and her quintuplets.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa, said the intervention forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen maternal and child healthcare and reduce maternal and infant mortality in the state.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable families and improving access to quality healthcare services across Kano State.
