Two leading Muslim organisations, The Muslim Congress (TMC) and Muslim Awareness International (MAI), have called on the Federal Government to urgently clarify the reported arrest of a Palestinian-Nigerian citizen.

In separate statements issued on Friday, the groups expressed concern that the government has remained silent despite growing reports that the individual, whose identity has not been fully disclosed, was allegedly detained under unclear circumstances.

According to TMC and MAI, the lack of transparency fuels public anxiety and raises questions about the government’s commitment to protecting the rights of Nigerians both at home and abroad. They argued that silence on such a sensitive issue could damage Nigeria’s reputation internationally, especially among countries with strong humanitarian and diplomatic ties.

The groups urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to provide clear information, ensure due process, and, if necessary, extend consular or legal support to the affected citizen. They stressed that Nigeria must always stand up for its people, regardless of their ethnic or religious background.

Their statement concluded by appealing to civil society, the media, and human rights advocates to keep pressure on the authorities until transparency and justice are achieved.
