‘My Mum Has Told Me Never To Marry A Woman Who Is Not Working’ — Singer Chike
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
Singer Chike, known for his soulful voice and hit songs in the Nigerian music industry, shared his thoughts on choosing a life partner during an interview on the Ada’s Room Podcast.
He explained, “My mum has told me never to marry a woman who is not working. She said no matter how the love is doing me, I should never do it. If they are not productively adding to production then don’t do it.”
Using Ada, the first daughter of an Igbo family, as a case study, he added, “Imagine you want to marry an Ada that she is the one taking care of her family and she is not all productive then you have inherited the whole family.”
Chike further emphasized the importance of understanding a potential partner’s family dynamics; “That’s why I ask how many siblings a girl has, what does her family do, your brother, your sister, cause truth me you don’t want moment your babe will be like please borrow me money I want to help my brother, that is a lot.”
