Nationwide Strike to begin on Monday

Following the ongoing alleged hardship in Nigeria and among Marine workers, Labour Union has directed all Nigerian workers to shut down operations throughout the country and begin nationwide strike starting from Monday, June 5, 2023.

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, stated that all workers should shut down every shipping companies and begin an indefinite strike throughout the nation.

It was asserted that the strike was due to lingering misunderstanding between shipping companies and employees over poor package and welfare.

According to the Union president, Prince Adewale Adeyanju, he bewailed that since year 2018, the Organized Union had been fighting for standard wages on the welfare of workers, but till moment no turnout.

He maintained that despite various intervention of the past Minister of Transportation, Muazu Sambo, the shipping companies had refused to comply with the request of the workers.

However, the union stated that they are embarking on nation wide strike starting from Monday, June 5.
