NCMN President Hails COAS Oluyede’s Achievements in Security and Welfare

The President of the Nineteen Seventeen Northern Consensus Movement of Nigeria, an amalgamation of 598 registered affiliated grassroots Northern Associations from the 36 states and FCT, Dr. Awwal Aliyu Abdullahi, has highlighted the notable achievements of Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede.
He said “In the few months of his assumption of office, General Oluyede came in with promises to enhance security capacity, infrastructure, training, equipping, and administration of the Army. According to Dr. Awwal, General Oluyede has made significant contributions to the Nigerian Army’s effectiveness and welfare.
“Some of the COAS’s achievements, as mentioned by Dr. Awwal, include the completion and commissioning of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics (NACOL), renovation of soldiers’ accommodations in Division Jos, and commissioning of 23 SER Headquarters in Jos.
Additionally, the COAS has renovated and commissioned soldiers’ accommodations and Brigade Commanders’ Residences in Ikeja Cantonment, Lagos. Lieutenant General Oluyede has also held stakeholders’ interactions in Bokkos, Plateau State, to stem the tide of insecurity.
He commissioned Intelligence Personnel CBQ Accommodation in Mambilla Barracks, Abuja, and renamed Ikeja Cantonment as TA Lagbaja Cantonment, Lagos. The COAS passed out over 6,000 recruits of 87RRI and carried out Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) interventions across the country.
The COAS has approved infrastructural interventions across Nigerian Army formations and barracks, commissioned TAL House and RSM Residence in 4 SF Command, Doma, and visited and motivated troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) and Operation Python Dance (OPFD).
Dr. Awwal noted that General Oluyede has taken measures to improve the welfare of troops and their families. These measures include increment of soldiers’ RCA, renovation and construction of schools, and issue of modern equipment to units.
The COAS has also approved local and foreign medical treatment for Nigerian Army personnel and sponsored local and foreign training for officers and soldiers. Furthermore, General Oluyede has rejiggered collaboration with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) for a more comprehensive approach to tackle insecurity across the country.
He has collaborated with state governments to improve the welfare of displaced persons and the populace in general. Dr. Awwal maintained that the Nigerian Army, under General Oluyede’s leadership, indicates aggressive development, behavioral, and tactical change in the fight against insecurity.
This development has led to high morale among troops and enhancement of patriotism, nationalism, love for the country, and general discipline.
Dr. Awwal commended Lieutenant General Oluyede for his dedication and commitment to the Nigerian Army’s effectiveness and welfare. He emphasized that as citizens, it is their civic responsibility to consistently support the COAS, the Nigerian Army, and the Armed Forces for success.
