The Niger Delta Movement for Coalition (NDMC) has strongly condemned the recent police invitation to Nasir El-Rufai and several other leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The group described it as act of intimidation is a blatant attempt to suppress the opposition’s voice and undermine the democratic process in Nigeria. “We view this move as part of a larger scheme by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to silence dissenting voices and maintain its grip on power”, they added.

The statement was signed by its national chairman Hon. Ezekiel Daniel which a copy was sent to Congress correspondent.

“The NDMC expresses deep concern over the growing trend of police harassment and intimidation of opposition party members. This behavior is characteristic of a government that is increasingly intolerant of criticism and opposition. We urge the authorities to respect the rights of citizens to participate in the democratic process without fear of persecution or harassment.

“The ADC has emerged as a credible opposition platform, offering a viable alternative to the APC’s dominance. The party’s growing popularity is a testament to its commitment to democratic principles and good governance. By targeting ADC leaders, the APC aims to disrupt the party’s momentum and undermine its ability to challenge the status quo.

“We call on the police to refrain from being used as a tool for political persecution and instead focus on maintaining law and order. The NDMC demands that the authorities respect the rights of opposition parties to operate freely and without intimidation. We stand in solidarity with the ADC and its leaders, and we will continue to support their efforts to build a more inclusive and democratic Nigeria.

“The NDMC urges all Nigerians to reject this attempt to undermine democracy and join forces in promoting a level playing field for all political parties. Together, we can build a more just and equitable society where every citizen’s voice is heard and respected. We demand that the government prioritizes the security and well-being of all citizens, regardless of their political affiliation.

“To our leaders, do not be intimidated or scared into abandoning this call to service to rescue the Nation from this calamitous, wicked and increasingly tyrannical government, whose lack of human face policies has thrown several million Nigerians into extreme poverty state.

“The tough situation doesn’t last ,but tough people do ,therefore ADC members facing persecution should know that there will be light at the end of the tunnel”, he noted.
