NDLEA Nabs Over 1,000 Suspects, Convicts 117 In Delta, Edo

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA in Delta and Edo state has stated that not less than 1,000 individual has been apprehended suspected of engaging in drug-related crimes.
The commander of the agency, Tunde John announced that 558 individuals were nabbed for drug-related offences within a year.
He stated this during a speech at the command headquarters in Ogwashi Uku, in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Mr Tunde maintained that the command has secured the conviction of 75 persons for drug-related offences between June 2022 and June 2023.
He stated that the command was able to counsel 376 persons, comprising 312 males and 55 females, on the drug demand aspect which entails counselling, treatment, rehabilitation, creating awareness, and sensitizing them about the dangers of drug abuse.
Mr Tunde added that within this period, over 25 hectares of cannabis farmland were destroyed.
The commander of the Agency, Edo state, Buba Wakawa, also affirmed the arrest of 463 suspects linked to drug trafficking in the state between June 2022 and May 2023.
