NECO Releases 2025 SSCE External Results; 86.26% Made 5 Credits And Above

NECO has released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External results just 52 days after the final paper.
The Registrar, Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi says a total of 96,979 candidates registered for the examination across 16 subjects, while 95,160 candidates eventually sat for the papers.
Performance analysis shows strong outcomes, with 71.63 per cent of candidates securing five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics. Specifically, 78.32 per cent earned credit passes in English Language, while 91.35 per cent achieved credit passes in Mathematics. Overall, 86.26 per cent obtained five credits and above irrespective of English and Mathematics.
On examination malpractice, 9,016 candidates were booked for various offences, representing a 31.7 per cent increase compared to 2024. NECO also blacklisted five supervisors from the FCT, Kano, Adamawa, and Ondo states, while four centres in Niger, Yobe, and Kano states were recommended for derecognition due to mass malpractice.
The examination was conducted between November 26 and December 13, 2025, with marking held from January 5 to January 21, 2026. Prof. Wushishi describes the release as another milestone in NECO’s commitment to credible assessment. He therefore thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting education, and discloses that states currently owe NECO less than ₦2 billion.
