By Micheal Chukwuebuka
Abubakar Yakubu, the newly elected President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has been arrested after reportedly being involved in a fatal road accident in Surulere, Lagos.
Yakubu, who won the AGN presidential election by a narrow margin—polling 116 votes against Rita Daniels’ 113, with three ballots declared invalid—was said to have been driving when the crash occurred.
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident resulted in the death of one individual.
He has since been taken into custody at the Barracks Police Station in Surulere, where police have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the accident or additional findings from ongoing enquiries.
