A veteran Niger Delta writer and activist Mr. Ekanpou Eneweridideke, bid his mother farewell as she was buried in her hometown, Oyagbene community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state on 21st January, 2023.

The funeral ceremony which turned carnival was agog with the overwhelming crowd, including personalities from all walks of life.

Mrs. Timiebi Maika Ekanpou, the storyteller who is aged 79 years, kicked the bucket on 30th August 2020 after a brief illness which was followed by prompt medical interventions.

The event was full of fun and other side attractions, including a football-friendly match, cultural dance and hip-hop artists display.

The cultural entertainers and drummers stole the show as all attention of the dignitaries was drawn and thrilled most spectacularly.

The Asoebi women and girls gave a unique and perfect look to the event which was attended by politicians, stakeholders, and leaders of various hierarchies and disciplines.

The Mama children including Ekanpou, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law were uniquely and gorgeously dressed and danced to give the last respect to their mother.

Ekanpou, the author of the novel _Spiked Beyond Spikes_, said he was grieved because his mother died at 79 years while she was yet to enjoy the good fruits of her hard labour.

According to him, “Throughout her incarnation on earth, mathematically placed at 79 years(1941-2020), she philosophized the world impactfully with her philosophically anchored didactic stories that charted a clear moral path for her generation and beyond. Her stories were always loaded with edifying statements that she constantly became a quotable personality in every discourse of intellectuals. To many people, Timiebi Maika Ekanpou is the refinery of quotable philosophical statements. Every story of Mrs. Timiebi Maika Ekanpou carries different quotable statements laden with both ancient and contemporary wisdom.”
