Nigeria, China Sign Economic Partnership Agreement

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and the Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Wentao, have signed a Framework Agreement on negotiations and cooperation between Nigeria and China at the sidelines of the World Trade Organization’s Ministerial Meeting holding in Yaounde, Cameroon.

The agreement is centered on trade facilitation, inclusive and green growth, resilient supply chains, and the digital economy.

Dr Oduwole says at the heart of industrialization, job creation, and export diversification, Nigeria will continue to explore and pursue partnerships that strengthen the country’s position in regional and global value chains, while ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth.

The Agreement is part of Nigeria’s broader strategy to expand trade and investment partnerships, enhance competitiveness, and position the country as a leading economic hub within Africa, in alignment with continental initiatives.

Trade between Nigeria and China has reached a historic-high with volume of trade valued at $28 billion, representing a 28% year-on-year growth compared to 2024.
