Nigeria and the United Kingdom have renewed their commitment to deepening collaboration aimed at delivering tangible benefits to citizens of both nations.

This followed a meeting between Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and the UK’s Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in London.

According to a statement by Tuggar’s media aide, Alkasim Abdulkadir, discussions centred on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, security, education, migration, and climate action.

The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and global developments, explored new avenues for economic partnership, and reviewed ongoing collaboration in defence and governance.

Both sides acknowledged the importance of people-to-people connections and the significant contributions of the Nigerian diaspora to strengthening bilateral relations.

The visit forms part of Nigeria’s broader diplomatic efforts to advance mutual interests, promote sustainable development, and reinforce its long-standing partnerships on the global stage.
