Nigerian Man Dies While Playing Football In Ireland

By Micheal Chukwuebuka
The Nigerian community in Ireland is in mourning following the sudden death of 30-year-old Lotanna, who collapsed while playing football in Limerick on Thursday, 18 September.
Lotanna, remembered as a devoted father and fiancé, was the only son of his parents in Nigeria. He is survived by his partner, Roisin, their young son LJ, and another child on the way.
Friends and loved ones have paid heartfelt tributes, describing him as a caring family man with a deep passion for football. According to those close to him, Lotanna had been eagerly looking forward to marrying Roisin next year and raising their children together.
In response to his untimely death, a fundraiser has been launched to support his fiancée and children, as well as to assist in repatriating his body to Nigeria for burial. Part of the funds will also go towards helping his grieving parents, who have been left devastated by the loss of their only son.
At the weekend, the North Tipperary and District League paid tribute by observing a minute’s silence across all matches in Lotanna’s honour.
