At least nine people have been confirmed dead and several others abducted following coordinated attacks by suspected bandits on multiple communities in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The armed men reportedly invaded Layin Danauta village and neighboring settlements on Thursday night, blocking major access routes and trapping residents who attempted to flee. Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the communities in large numbers, shooting sporadically and looting homes before whisking away several villagers, including women and children.

Local sources disclosed that nine bodies have been recovered so far, while many others remain unaccounted for. Residents say communication with nearby villages has been difficult due to the fear of renewed assaults.

Security operatives were said to have arrived at the scene hours after the attack, with patrols currently ongoing to restore calm. However, tension remains high across affected areas as families continue searching for missing relatives.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident, even as residents call on authorities to strengthen security presence in the region, which has become a hotspot for banditry and kidnappings.
