Nollywood Actor Arrested in Connection with Alleged Coup Plot

A prominent Nollywood filmmaker and actor, Stanley Amandi, has been arrested in connection with an alleged coup plot involving several Nigerian military officers.

Amandi, a director and former chairman of the Enugu State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), was reportedly taken into custody in September 2025.

Details of his alleged involvement have only recently emerged, with reports suggesting he was recruited by suspected plotters to serve as a propagandist, allegedly aiming to unlawfully remove President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration from power.
