The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) have jointly suspended Nollywood actor Taiye Arimoro following a review of an altercation that occurred on the set of Peggy Ovire’s film.

AGN president Emeka Rollas announced the decision in a statement shared with an emotional caption, explaining that the verdict was driven by “responsibility, compassion, and a desire to restore trust” within the industry. He emphasised that the guild is a family and must prioritise the welfare of its members.

According to the joint document dated 27 November 2025, disciplinary committees from the three guilds found Taiye Arimoro to be the primary aggressor in the incident. He was said to have assaulted the production manager and the driver, as well as circulated a misleading live video that misrepresented the situation and wrongly implicated producer Peggy Ovire, who was not present during the initial confrontation. The director, production manager and crew were cleared of any wrongdoing.

The guilds consequently suspended Arimoro from all Nollywood productions until further notice. He is required to issue a public apology to the production manager, the director and Peggy Ovire, and must release a corrective video clarifying the true sequence of events. He has also been directed to return to set to complete his remaining scenes for Pieces of Love under strict supervision, and to comply with further directives from the guilds.

The statement also addressed the conduct of producer Peggy Ovire. While she was not involved in the original altercation, the guilds noted that her emotional outburst at the estate gate contributed to the escalation outside the compound. She is required to write official apology letters to the guilds, apologise to the estate management, and submit a written undertaking committing to improved personnel management on future productions.
