NPF Boost Counter Terror Fight: Trains Officers In Close Quarter Battle Tactics
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has expanded its counter-terrorism capacity with fresh training for operatives of its Counter Terrorism Unit.
A statement by the force noted that the two-week programme, conducted in partnership with the British High Commission in Nigeria, trained fifty-six officers on Close Quarter Battle tactics and intelligence analysis to strengthen responses to terrorism, banditry and other security threats.
At the closing ceremony in Abuja, officials commended the professionalism of the participants and urged them to deploy the new skills effectively in the field.
The Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, represented by AIG Akoh Gabriel, said the initiative reflects the Force’s commitment to strengthening operational capacity against evolving security challenges.
As part of the renewed strategy, the Police have also approved new Counter Terrorism Unit bases in Madagali, Ikot Odo, and Ode-Remo, alongside additional deployments to strategic locations nationwide.
The force say the move will enhance rapid response capability and improve operational coverage in the fight against terrorism and other emerging threats.
