Peter Obi, a candidate for the Labour Party (LP), lost in Nasarawa State, according to a witness, Ibrahim Hamza, who testified before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) yesterday.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has invited Hamza as a witness.

The witness, who served as the PDP’s State Collation Agent (SCA) during the election, asserted that if the election had been free and fair, Obi would not have won his state.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) party score allocations, which he claimed to have signed under duress, Obi won the state.

Hamza expressed his dissatisfaction with the outcome. “This outcome is not what I want the court to accept. In Nasarawa State, the Labour Party cannot come to the top. That is not feasible because the results are accurate. It is with the PDP’s National Collation Agent.”

The witness replied that he was unsure when asked if the alleged National Collation Agent was still alive.

The witness claimed to have signed a clean copy of the result sheet, which he then claimed had been altered after his signature. He also stated that all of the cancellations on the result sheet had taken place after his signature.

Hamza, the 10th witness for the petitioners (PW10), made these statements while being cross-examined by Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s attorney.

He testified before the court that, despite not knowing the exact number of votes received by Atiku in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), he was confident that the PDP candidate had satisfied all qualifications and regulations set forth by the constitution to be declared the election’s victor.
