Obidient Movement Urges Nigerians: Don’t Sell Your Voting Power

By Diafa Doubra,
In a passionate press briefing held in Umuahia, the Abia chapter of the Obidient Movement, a pro-Obi group, urged Nigerians especially those still reeling from the 2023 presidential election to channel disappointment into constructive action by getting and protecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The group warned that selling or neglecting one’s PVC could hand control of Nigeria’s future over to those with questionable intentions. Instead, they encouraged voters to engage fully with the ongoing continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise, including transferring their PVCs if needed.
Chukwuebuka Ezennaka, the movement’s Abia State coordinator, launched the “Go Get Your PVC” campaign. Citing INEC’s data, he noted that out of 2,120,808 registered voters in Abia in 2023, 1,949,197 (a commendable 91.9%) had collected their cards. The Obidient Movement aims to double the figure to 4 million registered voters by 2027, strengthening democratic participation in the state.
Ezennaka emphasized that widespread voter card collection and use is a critical defense against electoral malpractice, adding that former presidential candidate Peter Obi continues to believe in “re-setting” Nigeria through greater civic engagement.
