Olori hails Tinubu’s tax reforms as boldest in Nigeria’s history

By Diafa Doubra
Elder statesman Morrison Olori has described President Bola Tinubu’s recently introduced tax reforms as the most audacious economic step taken in Nigeria’s history.
Speaking at a policy dialogue in Abuja, Olori noted that the reforms, though tough, are designed to restructure the nation’s revenue system, reduce over-dependence on oil, and strengthen the economy for long-term stability. He explained that the tax measures would improve government revenue, create fiscal discipline, and encourage investments if properly implemented.
Olori, however, acknowledged that the policies might initially cause discomfort among citizens and businesses, but urged Nigerians to see them as necessary sacrifices for the country’s economic revival. He also called on government officials to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of tax revenues.
Economic experts at the event echoed his views, stressing that with proper implementation, the reforms could open new opportunities for growth and development.
