Ondo Police Condemn Attack on Ipele Divisional Headquarters

The Ondo State Police Command has condemned the attack on the Ipele Divisional Police Headquarters in Ose Local Government Area, of the state which occurred on December 31, 2025.

The Command, in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, clarified that contrary to reports circulating on social media, no church was attacked during the incident.

Findings indicate that at about 9:41 p.m., a group of armed men between 20 and 30 stormed the police station, firing assault rifles and using explosives.

The attackers set parts of the facility ablaze, resulting in the destruction of the building and some exhibits. No casualty was recorded at the time of filing this report.

Following the attack, a joint security patrol involving the Police, Military, Civil Defence, and other security stakeholders was deployed to the area, although the assailants had fled before their arrival.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, described the attack as a reprehensible act against public peace and security. He assured residents that the situation is under control and urged members of the public to remain calm.
