One killed as Itsekiri, Urhobo youths clash in Warri

Tension engulfed Warri in the early hours of Saturday, 27th September 2025, as a group of Itsekiri youth reportedly stormed Agbassa, an Urhobo settlement to allegedly disrupt preparations for an upcoming festival.

It was gathered at press time that during the invasion, the shrine was desecrated, and one Mr. Jerry, a prominent leader in the community was allegedly killed on the spot.

For months, tension has been brewing in Warri over the delineation of Warri Federal constituency.

It was alleged the dissatisfaction expressed by the Itsekiri community over the outcome of the exercise has further heightened tensions in the city.
