Opuede Federated Community In Retrospect

Opuede Federated Community is one of the Eight (8) ruling communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom. So, It stands tall in the rich and robust history of the Great and Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom. However, despite its vantage position in the Great and Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom Opuede is emasculated in poverty and bereft of EVERY form of basic social amenities. Opuede was one of the rallying points in the “good” old days of bunkering activities across the entire coastline of Excravos and Gbaramatu Corridors. Today Opuede is left dry and empty like the story of Oloibiri the one time coveted bride of Nigeria’s crude oil.

OPUEDE FEDERATED COMMUNITY IN RETROSPECT:

A few years ago, Opuede had huge patronage of bunkering activities with ground rents and other statutory levies amounting into hundreds of thousands if not millions, yet Opuede has nothing to show for all the years of this illicit but high money spinning ventures. It could be noted that several communities within the Gbaramatu Kingdom and other kingdoms witnessed positive transformational changes in infrastructure and development. OPUEDE FEDERATED COMMUNITY is a different story altogether. Today, Opuede Federated Community still looks like a fishing camp with the relics of the bunkering activities. Opuede Federated Community had no Solar Powered Street Lights like in other communities within the Kingdom. OPUEDE FEDERATED COMMUNITY had no potable water, even the one for domestic use. The only Primary School within the Creeks was closed down for lack of attention. These and many more maladies are the lots of My Community,

Secondly, Opuede is one of the major hosts of the multimillion Dollar failed EPZ project. Monies were paid for the acquisition of rights of ways and other compensations to the Opuede Federated Community. Yet, Opuede remains desolate with the people so impoverished while the “Chichidodos” build boulevards in the diaspora. These “CHICHIDODOS” must be stopped before they run Opuede Federated Community into extinction.

Going forward, Opuede Federated Community in just the last two years, witnessed a new lease of life with the prospect of covering lost grounds by embarking on the following projects;

Solar Powered Street Lights across the paths of the Opuede Community.

Provision of the source of Potable Water for the Community. The entire Opuede Federated Community used to have only one well that had almost completely caved in resulting in a very unusable water.

Establishment of the Opuede Farms and Foods Processing Industries Limited for the restoration of the battered reputation of the community via the bunkering activities of the past.

Proposition of the ultra Modern Town Hall with Guest House for the Community. This project was seen to be too audacious of the Mackson Ode led Executive. The CHICHIDODOS immediately took the steps to put a clog in the wheel of the progress bringing up all sorts of spurious and unsubstantiated allegations. Calling a dog a bad name just to hang it.

Electrification Project. There must be Electricity in Opuede just like other progressive communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom. The CHICHIDODOS are at it again to stop or frustrate the good intentions of the Mackson Ode led Executive. Just the way they concocted allegations in order to stop the Ultra Modern Town Hall Project, they want to stop the Electrification Project.

OPUEDE FEDERATED COMMUNITY MUST arise to stop this unjust and calculated attempt to perpetually emasculate the community in poverty and backwardness.
