A former secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Otunba Nick Ovuakporie, has thrown his weight behind Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, declaring him the undisputed leader of the party in the state.

Addressing journalists in Asaba, Ovuakporie dismissed speculations of internal rifts within the APC, insisting that the governor’s position remains unshaken. He stressed that no individual or group could challenge Oborevwori’s leadership, describing such attempts as distractions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, Oborevwori’s impressive development strides across Delta State speak for themselves, giving him a strong edge for re-election. “The people of Delta are fully aware of his achievements. With such overwhelming track records, the governor will be returned in 2027,” Ovuakporie said.

The former party secretary also reflected on the party’s history in Delta, recounting how he personally helped build its structure and once handed leadership roles to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who joined after the APC’s formation. Ovuakporie accused Omo-Agege of failing to support the party in its early struggles despite being given prominence.

He called on APC members to unite behind Oborevwori, warning against divisions that could weaken the party. “This is not Oborevwori’s empire; it is the APC foundation for the people. Everyone must rally around the governor for the good of the state,” he added.

Ovuakporie’s statement comes at a crucial time as Delta APC braces for heightened political activity in the build-up to 2027, with stakeholders now watching closely to see how the party balances loyalty, unity, and ambition.
