Ozobo Slams Oborevwori Over Abandoned Burutu Polytechnic Project
By Monday Peters, Abuja
Senior Public Advocate, SPA, Comrade Ozobo Austin, has criticized Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for abandoning the permanent site project of the Delta State Marine Polytechnic in Burutu town.
Ozobo described Oborevwori as the worst Ijaw-friendly governor in the state’s history, challenging him to publish any capital projects initiated in Ijaw communities since taking office.
According to Ozobo, Oborevwori has consistently displayed hatred for Ijaw people, relegating them to the background in development, appointments, and opportunities. He noted that the polytechnic has been operating from a temporary site since its establishment, using the community civil center.
He reminded Oborevwori that Ijaw support was crucial to his 2023 governorship victory, which was closely contested against Senator Ovie Omo-agege. The rights activist urged the governor to prioritize development in Ijaw communities.
While citing the importance of the school, he said despite the school being sited in the Ijaw community, it is benefited by people across the state, adding that any attempt to abandon the project will not speak well about his administration.
Ozobo called on leaders and stakeholders in the Ijaw nation to prevail on Oborevwori to complete the school project without further delay.
