Panic as fire guts popular foodstuffs market in Kano

Pandemonium as early morning fire has destroyed some parts of a popular foodstuffs market, known as Singer in Kano State.

A source told newsmen that the fire started late in the night and continue to destroy shops and warehouses till Monday morning.

According the source, the fire could not be put off until Monday morning with the combined efforts of the fire service and other security agencies.

It was learned the fire destroyed many shops and foodstuffs worth millions of naira.

The state Police Command Spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the incident.
