PAP Boss Otuaro to Chair 2025 Ijaw Media Conference as Igali, Eradiri Lead Major Presentations

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr Dennis Otuaro, has been confirmed as chairman of the 2025 Ijaw Media Conference.

This was contained in a statement signed by the duo of Pastor Arex Akemotubo and Tare Magbei, Chairman and Secretary of the Planning Committee, respectively.

They explained that the conference theme, “Safeguarding Niger Delta’s Natural Resources for Future Generations,” reflects a growing demand for careful management of the region’s land and waterways.

The event in its second edition will take place on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the KFT Event Centre in Warri, starting by 10 am.

Foremost diplomat and erstwhile Nigerian ambassador to Scandinavian nations, Amb Dr. Godknows Igali will deliver the keynote address, while Engr Udengs Eradiri, a former president of the Ijaw Youth Council, will present the lead speech.

Both speakers are expected to set the direction for discussions on the long-term protection of the Niger Delta’s natural resources.

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, will attend as Special Guest of Honour, with a wide group of senior figures lined up to serve as Guests of Honour.

They include Mr Lethemsay Braboke Ineibagha, MD/CEO of Vettel Mega Services Nigeria Limited; Prof Benjamin Okaba, President Ijaw National Congress; Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri, President Ijaw Youth Council; Hon Spencer Okpoye of DESOPADEC, Dr Paul Bebenimibo, Registrar Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko; Chief Boro Opudu, Chairman Delta Waterways and Land Security; and Chief Promise, President Egbema Brotherhood.

Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, HRM Pere Luke Kalanama VIII, who is the first Vice Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, will serve as Royal Father of the Day, while Chief Tunde Smooth, the Bolowei of the Niger Delta, will serve as Father of the Day.

The programme will bring together policymakers, community leaders, journalists, and researchers to consider practical steps that can guide environmental responsibility across the Niger Delta.
